I first attempted 70-448 in March of this year and failed with a 68.5 which based on 50 questions is failing by less than a mark. So I bought a book and studied. I actually learnt quite a bit. Last Friday was my son Peter’s last school exam for his HSC. I decided to retry my exam in sympathy. I got an 80.9 which is a pass but as I sat there thinking I definitely got at least 30 right. As I thought what would I do if I failed again. Most people fail 448 and it is not a representative exam. Microsoft’s decision to rework the BI exams is a great move. I will be passing on my opinion.
Overall I learnt more from failure than success but success feels better.
I just failed 70-448 today. It was a slap in the face. I took the classes and studied and did everything the “experts” told me to do. I’m feeling sick about it.
When you took the test the second time, were the questions the same as the first time? Or did they change? I’m wondering if there is a bank of questions and they pull 55 random questions from that bank each time you take the test.
I felt that many of the questions were difficult. If they change up the questions each time, maybe I could do better a second time.
Be chilled lots of people fail this exam. I passed the advanced one and failed this one. The questions will definitely change.
I will try and come up with some study guidelines for you.
Thanks, Geoff. I took three classes at New Horizons (training center) and spent 30 days with the Transcender pre-test (questions and material). I knew pretty well the content that I had reviewed. Still, I had never heard of nor seen about half the items on the exam. After taking the test, I found some more sample questions online. I’ll go through those. I also plan to spend more time going over the related topics in Books Online.
Are you in the US? It sounds like you may be in Australia. I’m in Georgia (USA). My test had 55 questions (45 of them counted – 10 were being tried out as possible future questions) and the max score was based on a scale of 0-1000 (700 was passing). Maybe I took the reworked version you mentioned. I was just sort of ticked off. I did everything they suggested I do and failed (and I like to think I’m no dummy).
Any thoughts you have would be appreciated, but don’t spend too much time on it. I may take the exam just one more time as I’m paying out of pocket for it.
Just took my 70-448 and did not pass either. Been studying since February. 55 questions and a score of 700 needed, I got a 600. Weakest on SSAS, strongest on SSIS. I will also try one more time in about a month, but at $150 a pop, can’t afford to take it more than that.
